1 Week Later

It is amazing what a week will do. I began feeling better on Tuesday and had a full day on Wednesday. It is a lot easier to be optimistic when I feel well, than when I am sick. I didn't think that this round of chemo was going to knock me down, but because it does I think I'm going to ask the doctor if he will give me another chemo agent with what I am already getting. If I'm going to be sick, he might as well make it worth my while.
This was an exciting week. I had a really nice visit with my friend and she brought me a beautifully knitted wrap that her mother-in-law made for me. I also attempted making a fish fry. To most people this is no big deal, but having grown up in Wisconsin, enjoying an amazing fish fry is a weekly ritual celebrated every Friday (thanks to all my Catholic friends!). Things did not turn out as hoped, but it was a start and will hopefully get better. I also bought a couple of things I have wanted for the past year. I bought a Vitamix blender with my dad-- I can't wait to try out the recipes. I also bought a MacBook. Bruce is so glad that he no longer has to share his computer... I look forward to taking classes down at the Apple store!
I saw the headline, "Living with Cancer". It has really stuck with me and helped me appreciate that truly living and making the most out of every day is a daily goal. While growing up my mom taught me that each day is a new day and I need to make the most out of it. I hope you do too. Love to you all! Jeanel

Jeanel,
Janell directed me to your blog and I am in awe. So many years have passed since high school and so much had changed. I would love to catch up on some things. Email me at the attached if you'd like. You and your family are in my prayers.

Jeanel, You're such a stud-woman. Ummm... let's see, the chemo was rotten, so I'm going to have them give me another kind at the same time so I'll be full-blown-sicker than a rabid dog! Honestly girl!

I truly do admire your chutzpah. You are the most courageous fighter I believe I have ever witnessed. I don't think the cancer has a chance with you. Just no way it could be tougher than an Otto.

Love ya and thinking of you,
Uncle Net

Jeanel,

Only you would be "movitated" enough to add another chemo agent because you are already sick so why not be sicker. God bless you in your efforts. We hope it pays dividends in the future. Amber keeps saying you guys need to get together again now that we are back. Our prayers are with you.

Love,

Dan & Amber

Good post--I like the part about your mom saying that each day is a new day. Every morning, we sing to Carson your mom's made-up song, "It's a new day... gonna be a new day... with a smile on your face, and a song in your heart, it's time to start your new day!"

You are amazing! I had to laugh reading about the fish fry, now that we do live in Wisconsin, I get it! I do have to say that Trav has attended a couple but I have yet to try it...I don't know that I want to.
Good luck, enjoy the spring weather and know you are still in our thoughts and prayers!
